On this walking tour, discover the starting point for an enormous epic that for 500 years has been closely linked to Portuguese and European history.
We will begin the visit by the river at the Torre de Belém, an ancient defense bastion built in 1515, the starting point for new worlds.
Continuing along the river, we will arrive at Padrão dos Descobrimentos. The only evocative monument of the exhibition held in 1940, which transformed the neighborhood of Belém at the time.
Crossing the train line and the Praça do Império, we will immediately catch a glimpse of the JerónimosMonastery. Built on the beach of Santa Maria de Belém, place of arrivals and departures between Europeans and the rest of the world.
The ex-libris monastery of the Manueline style from the 15th/16th centuries is a reflection of a glorious period of Portuguese history.
In the center of the neighborhood, we will arrive at the famous pastry shop of Belém. With a brief stop to discover and taste the traditional recipe for Pasteis de Belém accompanied by an aromatic coffee.
