The Metro: An underground art gallery in Lisbon

An underground art gallery in Lisbon

Since the beginning the Lisbon Metro has works executed by numerous Portuguese painters and sculptors. Later, foreigners also joined this interesting exhibition space. Among the artists represented there we find names such as: Maria Keil, Júlio Resende, Francisco Simões and many others, who have turned this public transport into an authentic art gallery worth visiting in the city. Come and see some of these magnificent works of art that are only a few metres below the ground and through which thousands of people pass every day without realising their importance. The 4 metro lines offer different routes to discover. Come and enjoy their beauty!
