The belvederes of Lisbon (East)
When you look to a map of Lisbon you may think that you can reach the next destination walking straight on. The truth is that Lisbon is the town of the seven hills and so it is very rich as far as belvederes are concern. Do you want to have the best perspective over the old quarters of Lisbon? Book me, I´ll show you the best sites from several hills. To go to the first Belvedere we can cross the Mouraria (moorish quarter) go up through the terraces of Graça until Nª Sra Monte. Lots of Portuguese consider the best view over Lisbon is the one we get from the Belvedere Nª Sra Monte. Not far from here we´ll have another superb view from the Belvedere da Graça. Walking down the neighborhood we reach the Sta Luzia´s belvedere laying on the top of the oldest quarter of Lisbon – Alfama. Here we are back in the past in a kind of Medina with old buildings, wrought iron balconies, narrow streets, steps, blind alleys. One last photo stop at the terrace of S. Estevão Church. Going along the river Tagus we leave Lisbon from the Middle Age and in a couple of minutes later we are in Down Town in a totally different structure and environment from the 18th century. We can end our tour taking a fresh drink in one of the bars in the beautiful Commerce Square!
