MEDIEVAL LISBON

Going back in time

Lisboa Medieval - Casa Medieval

After the earthquake of 1755, Lisbon became a modern town, but some districts are still original and a good example of how Lisbon looked like 800 years ago. Your hotel or Martim Moniz Square in down town is our starting point. After entering into the Mouraria district we left already the cosmopolitan down town and we are back in time. You´ll see old churches, narrow streets, small squares and the Beco da Achada with probably the oldest house in Lisbon. The view from St. Lucia´s terrace is overwhelming but what is expecting us is even better because Alfama is a unique quarter with lots of steeps, narrow streets and blind alleys in each corner like a real maze!! The Cathedral the only Romanic church in town from 1147 is the symbol of Christianity. Going down the river we stop for a photo in the House of the Pointed Stones. This palace was built in the 16 century and nowadays houses the José Saramago´s Foundation
